Goodbye Youth Rebel (For now anyways)

So after a lot of thinking, I have chosen to put Youth Rebel on hold until sometime next year as I have a lot of new projects and things going for me next year and since I don’t have a team for Youth Rebel at all, its going to be really hard for me to concentrate more on this. Youth Rebel will most likely turn into a brand so keep an eye out for that! The taking down of the blog will happen in about an hour or so, so go & read some of the interviews thats already been up before it all goes down! Thank you for all your support so far, this isn’t the end of Youth Rebel! xoxo

Youth Rebel interviews Juan Veloz

1) Tell us abit about yourself & where you reside

Names Juan Veloz, born and raised in Brooklyn NY. Im 17 years old. Im a very Quiet person when people meet me but once I get to know you as a person I’m very chilled and Layed back.

2)Where did you learn photography, how long have you been a photographer?

Im actually still learning about the Art of Photography I wouldn’t say I learned everything about Photography. Ive been doing photography for 3 years now and Im loving every single step.

3) What type of shoots do you mostly enjoy doing and why?

Im focusing right now on Fashion Photoshoots,Just to show the latest trends on Fashion and how versatile a model can be when clothes is being put on them. I love Fashion and most of all I like the Model showing their interpretation of fashion as well. It gives the public a better understanding of a Models insight on their fashion preference.

 4) In your opinion, what are the qualities that distinguish a gifted photographer from someone who ‘snaps’?

I personally think anyone can be given the Name of a photographer but it takes a real photographer to actually look at their Subject from every single angle not just form a front view. A Photographer views things differently and that’s what makes a person a real Photographer, also dedication to your craft shows your commitment to photography

5) What further projects are you getting your self into?

My next project I will be working with an Amazing Artist Jovan Sanchez. And he will be drawing my Models and I will be shooting the Art and the Model side by side, So people can see two sides of Art. I also have a few more but you would just have to stay tuned! In a few years I see myself in College focusing on my Craft and bettering myself as a person.

6)Where would you like to see yourself in the next couple of years?

Hopefully with my own studio and create a name for myself and get known, that’s why I started young I wasted no time.

7)Do you have any other hobbies?

I swim as well I’ve been swimming for 3 years. It’s a good work out and it’s pretty relaxing and fun.

8)Shoutouts?

I want to give a big Shout out to all the young teens going for the dreams now, still going to school and working on their Art.

Youth Rebel interviews Quelle Christopher

1)So, tell us about what you do, who you are & where abouts you reside

My name is Quelle Christopher. People call me Quelle. [ha] I tend to dabble in whatever makes sound. Currently im more focused on hip hop but I also have a band called awesome in outer space which is a more “minimal wave/synth/vocal” sound. But i just like creating art. whatever medium. excet painting. im a terrible painter. like an armless preschooler. from detroit, chicago, st louis, born in new york, currently in oakland, cali-four-ni-a.

2)how would you describe your sound? what makes you different from others in the industry? What makes your music, ‘yours’?

Well, I’ve always been a fan of that “dirty apartment full of smelly dudes and smoke and beer” sound. i like to keep things simple. ruff. i a big fan of keeping and using mistakes. even though the new album “Shotgun and sleek rifle” is more ear friendly sound wise. we even scrapped the final master and just told em we mastered it. ha. i guess nowadays most sounds instrumentally have been heard, although there are always new approaches. so i would say more than anything the voice is what sets me apart. I remember a long time ago my buddy goose was like “dog you talk funny…why dont you just rap how you talk” and i took that and ran with it. in a weird way, what makes my music “mines”, is that its easily accessible by the” you”. its natural. so it natural to feel it.

3) Where do you get the inspirations from to write the material you produce?

first. let me say twitter is like ego crack. like i check this shit every second. and i used to make fun of niggas for that shit. second, to answer your question, id simply say life. the sounds i hear on the streets. I never use earphones or ipods or whatever. sometimes you’ll hear construction that has the dopest rhythm you’ve ever heard or hear some crazy lady yelling and manage to pull an awesome melody from it. you know. i guess the same goes for my music lyrically. Ive never been able to go into a project knowing what it will be in the end. sometimes i dont know what I’ll become tomorrow. so i just let my feelings at the moment make the music. to be totally honest with you sometimes i surprise myself. I listen to my own music as a fan. im really diggin this quelle guy at the moment. [lol] The music is all out there if you listen. Also I try to listen to as little music as I possibly can - on some garbage in garbage out type shit. ”Keep the ears clean”. I’ve always tried to go for whatever’s not popular at the moment little known fact is not cool is cool.

4)Who would be your dream collaboration?

Hmm… I don’t know if he’s musically inclined but i would say Optimus Prime from the Transformers. Him or Soundwave from the original cartoon. That nigga Soundwave transforms into a giant boombox. Who could fuck with that?! But if neither of them were available I’d say Cat Stevens (Yuseef Islam). preferably time machine style. like catch him at his prime. like the “peace train” period. But I’d take him as is too. I’m extremely blessed though to be honest. Most of the cats i came up listening to and was inspired by, i either know now, have met or have connections to. And as far as new artist go, i think i already work with the best so i have to go with fantasy collabs.

5)Now that pretty interesting, and in a good way! Where would you wanna take your music in the next 5 years?

Man! That makes me feel like im at a job interview or talking to my mom in high school. lol. hmm. i guess wherever its not supposed to be. plus im such a caveman that im sure ill probably just be upgrading to reason 4 around that time. but like i said earlier, it’s hard for me to really predict myself creatively. i grow every day. but hopefully wherever the money is, maybe china, their economy’s doing well or london; you guys pay for shows and shit. Overseas still values art, over here we’re like lepers. If you tell someone you’re a musician or artist they’re lie “yesh, tough luck buddy”. So creatively who knows. Definitely more “awesome in outer space” albums. and physically….the fuck outta here.

Youth Rebel X Gigi Vintage

1) How did Gigi Vintage come about? And how did the name ‘Gigi’ spring up?

Growing up I always loved raiding through my mother’s and grandmother’s wardrobes to see what amazing one-off pieces I could find and customise.  That amazing feeling when you find something so unique and relevant to current trends is so exciting.  Ever since then I’ve always lusted after original vintage pieces, searching the world over for rare yet on-trend finds that no-one else will have.  The worst thing is wearing something that everyone else is wearing; even if you want to follow trends I think it always adds a bit more to your outfit if you’re wearing a total one-off that no-one else can get their hands on.  Of course, vintage fashion has become a massive phenomenon over the past 10 years or so and the ever-increasing success of E-tail has meant that there was definitely a gap in the market for a modern style online vintage clothing boutique.  We have the likes of ASOS and Topshop providing consumers with modern fashionable clothing and accessories, but not many online UK stores providing the same for the vintage market.  This is what inspired me to create GiGi Vintage (www.gigivintage.co.uk).

The name of the boutique was actually inspired by my own name.  My initials are G.G. and those closest to me know me as G or GG, so I decided to name it ‘GiGi Vintage’.  I wanted a name that wouldn’t go out of fashion by next year and this just had a great ring to it.

2) What style of vintage would you describe your pieces that are available?

Think punk rock meets street style meets catwalk trends with a feminine twist!  Most of our pieces are from the 1960s to 1980s, with our biggest influence being the ‘80s right now.  All our original vintage pieces are handpicked from around the globe to bring you a collection of hard-to-find pieces that are bang on trend.

3) What inspired you to open up an online vintage boutique?

At the time of launching GiGi Vintage I just felt there was an abundance of vintage stores and markets to shop in already, while there was barely anyone taking advantage of the online vintage scene.  Often people can’t get out to the vintage shops on a regular basis or maybe their local town doesn’t really have any so they have to travel to bigger cities to find them.  That’s why I felt it was necessary to bring an online vintage shop to the world so that people can get their vintage fix at any hour of the day on any day of the week.

4) What makes Gigi Vintage differ from other online stores out there?

The whole concept behind GiGi Vintage was to create a super professional, well-designed, user-friendly and modern style online shop.  Although our products are vintage, we did not want to design a vintage and outdated website!  It’s all about the shopping experience and online shopping should be just as fun.  We don’t just have a mass of vintage pieces on offer for people to wade through online; instead we are very selective with the products we handpick for the store and we present them in a neat and stylish manner.  You can search effortlessly for everything and choose how you wish to sort the products (by price or by newest in) and also if you wish to view by page or view all – simple functions which not many online vintage stores have.  Full information on measurements, details and notable flaws are provided for each piece, whilst ensuring the photography is conducted in a comprehensive manner to show the customer what the product looks like from every angle; that way, they know exactly what they are buying.

5) Are there any plans on having Gigi Vintage expand in the next few years? How do you see Gigi Vintage progress in the future?

At present we are still a very new company.  We are still focusing on expanding our vintage selection, but we do also have plans to bring in a range of modern clothing.  After that, who knows where GiGi will take us…!

6) Having such incredible pieces for sale on your boutique, what do you look for when selecting the items?

First and foremost, I look at the style of the product and how it fits in with current and upcoming trends.  I have a clear customer base so it’s really important for me to provide them with exactly what they’re looking for, rather than outdated pieces that are not relevant to today’s world of fashion.  I also think about how each piece can be styled within an outfit and most importantly, would I wear it?  If I love something and feel it’s right for the boutique, I then have to go through and inspect for any flaws, given that quality is paramount to my brand.

7) The best style advice you’ve been given?

Always embrace your own style and never be afraid to be different.

I got an opportunity to do a shoot for Gigi Vintage & it was so much fun! Catch me on their site here.

XO mag catches up with OH MY!

XO Magazine catches up with the Pop dream team Oh My!

XO: So how did you guys meet?

OM: We met at college but we were in different years so how we actually became friends was by driving down the motorway singing along to some classic tracks! The main song  being  Jason Derulo ‘Riding solo’

XO:Your sound is refreshing compared to the popular mainstream ‘dance/pop’ sound, we’ve been hearing, did you guys experiment alot with your sound to see what works for you?

OM: We did experiment a little, but it started by us just having fun and the sound just came together from there! The sound is very us, and very oh my!

XO: How  did you guys come up with your concept for your first two videos?

OM:We want to show our fun side in all of our videos, all the songs are very attitudey we  want that to also come across  in the videos. They’re defnitely show us as we are anyway, mucking about and fun and games!

XO:Instead of releasing ‘teaser’ singles you guys have been releasing mini mixtapes, can you tell us how you pick what songs to include and which songs of yours you choose to sneak in there?

OM:We both  grew up having quite different tastes in music which is why they’re quite diverse, but hopefully that means lots of other people can dive in and enjoy them too!  All tracks on there are ones we love. And we like putting our own tracks in there too!

XO: What can fans expect from your debut album?

OM:Wow! Lots of attitude with playful lyrics and  hopefully something’s on there people can pick out and relate to…. That’s what we  look for in other people’s songs that we love, so we wanna bring that to our music  too !

XO: Can you tell us a little bit about your next single?

OM:The new single will be released  in Nov and it’s called  Dirty  Dancer! Its lively and hopefully will get you to dancing. Especially those ”boys that think their special cos they got a special watch” moving!

XO: What’s next for Oh My!?

OM:Were working hard on the album, were going back on schools tour in  October (which is exciting), we are doing under 18 gigs around the country and we have some top secret touring news which we will be able to reveal very soon! But not yet!

DOM interview.

Fuzzy hazed out vocals,lo-fi guitars and witty lyrics Dom has been a band we’ve been blasting all month. With they’re current Release ‘Family of Love’ - EP and tour Le’Keisha catches up with DOM front man Dom, and chats Mariah Carey, Touring and whats next.

Le’Keisha: You just released your second EP, can you tell us some of the inspiration for the new set of songs.

Dom: I was inspired by Marc Bolan’s vocals, My Bloody Valentine’s guitars, David Bowie’s Hunky Dory and pop songs of the 90’s.

L: On your site the description for the family of love EP says that you were inspired by Mariah Carey! How so?

D: I’ve always had respect for popular music, and Mariah Carey has always been one of my favorites. I love songs like, ‘always be my baby’ with simple lyrics that have a heavy message. I thought it would be a fun idea to bring teenie bop to space rock-have simple pop songs with melodic noise and dark  discord underneath it all ex: ‘Telephone’.

L: Are you guys working on any new material?

D: Yes. EP 3 and 4 coming soon.

L: So how has touring been?

D:Touring has been awesome. We got the best job ever. And it’s easy.

L: What are some your favourite songs to perform?

D:Jesus, Damn, BMF, Flood, Diva Shiva, להאביד, and Bochicha.

L: You guys have really been busy working, what’s next for Dom?

D:We are looking at some new deals and potential homes for our next few releases. There’s a mixtape in the works with some exciting collaborations, a book of drunken haiku, and a lot of touring.

Youth Rebel talks to Ken Rebel

A little introduction of who you are and what you do…

Well im kendell boyce ^__^ stage name ken rebel im an up coming artist from brooklyn(i hate brooklyn by the way -__-

Where abouts do you reside? If you had a choice with no strings attached, would there be somewhere else you would want to live?

Shesh if i could live any where else i would probably move to like paris or tokyo the people style in those areas are like beyond dope

At what age did you become interested in music and knew that this is what you wanted to do?

Since young like around 5 my pops always used to play alot of old school hip hop and it influenced me a lot.

Your single ’ Devils Daughter’ how did you come about writing that? What gave you the inspiration for it?

Well i got part of the idea from one of my idols kanye west he had a song called devil in a new dress and the other influences came from me just seeing how a woman can easily turn a mans mind frame of thinking and whole life style negative (nothing against the ladies though lol). But yea thats how i came up with that concept.

Where else do you get your inspiration for?

Fashion, its like the key to my motivation for some odd reason

How would you describe your sound? Is it different than what we normally hear? what makes your different?

Being different, because in brooklyn every one looks the same i try my best to stand out i hate to be one of the apples in the tree i rather be ah orange in ah apple tree, lol weird metaphor but thats the only way i could put it.

What are you hoping to do in the future, any collaborations? Projects? Anything big we should look out for?

Yes i have a song called ‘ignorance’ which is portraying ignorant hip hop - it’s set to be release
some time next week.
In the next 5 years, where could you see yourself?
I see myself being the king of hip hop of course.
Any last words or shout-outs?
Uhh yea shout outs to all my pharaohs and rebels out there and follow my blog pharaohs-n-rebels.tumblr.com ^___^

Cybertalk with Jay Ambitions

A little introduction of who you are and what you do….

Well i’m Julian Alexander Miller, i’m 16, i’m a musician, not to sound cliche’ but music is pretty much my life, i’m either listening or doing all the time.

Where abouts do you reside?

I live in michigan, monroe to be exact, but i’m from Detroit, lived in various areas in southeast michigan, but have been in monroe for some time.

If you had a choice with no strings attached, would there be somewhere else you would want to live?

No strings attached i’d say i would want to live in Europe, somewhere tropical, i’m really not sure, since i’m in music, i don’t wanna really settle anywhere, i’d like to live in various places and see every part of the world

At what age did you become interested in music and knew that this is what you wanted to do?

I got started with guitar for reasons i’m not really sure….Jimi Hendrix and Guitar Hero III i think lol. I’ve always liked singing but just messing around really, never took it seriously or tried to sound good, just always messed around when i played guitar, started liking it, and practicing. Didn’t really start singing seriously untill last summer around the time when cooler than me - mike posner, omg - usher, and billionaire - travie mccoy got popular, which was also around the time i got my acoustic, before i had always played electric. So i’ve basically been playing guitar for about 4 years, acoustic for about 1, and singing seriously for about 1, ever since i put up my first cover and started playing shows etc. i knew it was what i wanted to do in life.

There are so many youtube artists out there, what makes you different/stand out from them?

What makes me different from other youtube artists…honestly, i think it’s the was i kinda make songs my own, i do alot of rap covers and can completely change the song’s style (Marvin & Chardonnay, High/A$$, & The Thrill) , but also can really sing (no cockyness intended) and do a song that requires real singing like (Thinking About You, Sure Thing, Sunday Morning etc.) i have fun with what i do, it’s not to please anyone, it’s for my own love of music, but entertaining is also something i love, so it’s a plus, knowing that people are interested and want to hear me, and knowing they watch and wait for new covers keeps me going.

What are you hoping to do in the future, any collaborations? Projects? Anything big we should look out for?

i hope to eventually get a deal, i’ve been in the studio recording, so look out for studio tracks and a mixtape soon. Plan to do auditions for shows such as The X factor, America’s got talent, and The Voice, so watch out for that, and i’d love to collab with Andrew Garcia, JRA, Emmalyn, & other youtube artists. If i ever got big my dream collabs would be, Drake, Miguel, Frank Ocean, Big Sean. Wale, Wiz, but mostly Drake Miguel.

In the next 5 years, where could you see yourself?

In the next five years i hope to get a deal, performing around everywhere, meeting new people, and doing what i love.

Any last words or shout-outs?

Shoutout to everyone supporting, for you doing this interview, Wiz for retweeting, Soulja Boy for retweeting, Fans on twitter and youtube showing love, and everyone supporting, & thats ittt :)
